After watching a lot of videos on YouTube and seeing some guys having a play about with a video camera on a bike the other week, I have decided that I want one ๐ I'm looking for one of those bullet-shaped digital cameras that you can mount to the actual frame (not a head cam). I'd like decent quality without paying a ridiculous amount of money. I've seen some videos on YouTube that just look like a rubbish phone camera that's been stuck to the front of the bike, all pixelated and jerky, don't want anything like that. Was just wondering whether anybody has a cam for their bike and what you would recommend! Have been looking at this camera as a starting point: http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/atc3000.htm. Any thoughts, hints, tips, advice, etc. would be much appreciated ๐
Got a mate who's selling an unused headcam, can pass on his details if you e-mail me, see my profile.
Cool. What kind of camera is he selling? Do you know if it can be attached to the frame as well as a helmet?
Siix: I think you're taking the mounting systems a bit seriously. Most helmet cam users rely on plenty of cable ties and duct tape. Mount it wherever you like!
The ATC is pretty rubbish BTW. To get good quality, you need to go for one of the bullet cams which records to an external device (e.g. camcorder or Archos type thing). For an all-in-one, the Helmet Hero gives pretty acceptable quality.
Got no idea exactly what it is,but he doesn't ever buy rubbish. He did say it was the type they use for TV coverage on the BTCC. I've just told him to check the forum out when he gets in, but not sure if he's registered to post, can pass his number on via e-mail.
Stay away from all the Oregon cams (ATCs), every one of them has the same fault, they can suffer from terrible image tearing/picture wobble. They add new bells and whistles but they never fix the problem.
Dogcam used to be really good but I see them peddling that horrible MD80 thing, bit disappointing that, it's completely useless.
Go Pro hero cam wide is probably the best mtb option just now. Contour HD looks ace too but it's bigger and more expensive... Plus the company that makes them have a bit of a bad history, the first Vholdr was released before it was ready and had loads of teething troubles, so I'm a wee bit suspicious.
Full on wired bullet cam + recorder devices are great for car or motorbike use but they're a total pain for pushbikes, too much cabling, too many power headaches, too many bits alltogether.
