Hi all

I have a CRC bike bag bought for £50 in the sales. My new SB150 seems just too long to fit without a serious wrestle wedging the front end in. In doing this I first of all have to remove the rear mech and the as it is so tight and the yeti has only a small amount of cable from the frame port to the mech, it’s putting a lot of strain on the cable and bending when the rear mech gets shoved up in the rear axle location when in the bag.

This is too much of a hassle to do regularly. So I have two questions:

1. What bike bag is good for a long and slack enduro bike - something that is easy to slip in with room to spare.

2. Is it the norm to have to take the rear mech off when using a bike bag?

Cheers!

2. Yes, or the hanger likely get bent or worse

I’ve always removed rear mech when using bike bag. Just let it hang between frame and “rest” in /on bubble wrap.

1. Evoc.

2. Yes. Better to have it off the bike and able to move around, than bolted to it and susceptible to knocks

Okay I think I know what I need and it’s one of these:

Has anybody used one and if so did it take a long 29er with wheels still attached?

Done a few trips abroad every year for the last eight years or so, two bikes in either evoc or rose.de bike bags, never taken a rear mech off never had one damaged

What are you wanting to do with the bike bag.

I’m essentially using it just for two things, putting the bike in the car (avoiding dirtying the car and scratches from other bikes that mine lays on top of), and storing it inside at home. If the evoc bike cover does fit a modern 29er it could be solution.

We have four of these for putting the bikes in the camper garage or when they go in the back of the van, padded so work a treat

Hi Tracey - who makes that cover? Could be ideal!

Had them made at a firm down south about four years ago, took me a while to track down who was making them for some of the importers demo fleets.

From ordering to arriving was a week as we needed them for an Alps trip, they make loading and unloading so easy and stop the bikes catching each other

Safer removing rear mech so get a longer cable or pull it through from front of bike (assuming it is a fully enclosed cable).
