We did a nice long six hour single speed ride yesterday - out from Kingston on theThames path / Weybridge / Wisley common / Ockley / Newlands corner - NDW to Denbies / Box Hill to Epsom (with few detours for single track). However Mrs GDRS has destroyed another saddle.

Ladies your advice is now sought on a durable ladies saddle. The latest model to fall foul of Mrs GDRS buns of steel is a WTB she comp.

Cheers

The rails- they either bend or where saddle and rail at the rear join / bond (generally left side). Never happens on her geared bikes - just the single speed.

My wife swears by the Specialized BG sport womens specific saddle, she finds it really comfy and it has lasted years.

odd..

for £20 or so worth trying out a Charge Ladle? the bloke spoons version seem very durable (have them on three bikes).

also what seatpost is she using in the SS? is it an inline one? whats on the gear bike?

I don't ride singlespeed and don't bend saddles either but always got on with the specialised ladies saddles too........maybe something with a slimmer profile like the jett??

The SDG Allure (not the pink version) is rated in our house. We haven't destroyed any of the three we have between us so far. One's been in use since December and used a reasonable amount - showing bits of wear but no bending. Very comfy on lady parts too.

Spesh on the geared. Not an inline post (it's a regular Thomson).

After consultation I am informed that SDG has not been looked at - and the note on comfort has been taken.

Cheers.

Not an inline post (it's a regular Thomson).

thought all tomsons were inline (i.e. clamp on top of post rather than offset)?

think offset ones support saddles better

I have Specialized Jett saddles and Thomson posts on all my bikes, as they seem to be the most comfortable for me, but I wouldn't rate them very high for durability. The Fiziks I used to use tended to wear through the leather after a while, but I've broken at least 2 Jetts now, including snapping a rail into 3 pieces and snapping the shell on another. The only reason I still use the Jetts is comfort, because they aren't cheap...

My wife uses my Specialized BG Alias which is getting on for a few (5ish?) years old now, and no problems anywhere, but it is a mens saddle. To be honest every ladies saddle she's tried has generally been too wide so she sticks to mens, but it's a personal thing.
Between us we've commuted on it, xc raced it, enduro'd it, xc tri'd it, covering everything from Salisbury Plain to Glentress and Grizedale to Surrey Hills and Swinley Forest. No problems with comfort anywhere.
