Broke my old (2007) forks, tried to fix them, failed, called LoCo. LoCo called Windwave, they had a spare bit lying around that they were never going to sell due to the age of the forks, they sent it for free!

I went over to LoCo's to pick it up, he checked my bushings whilst I waited!

I feel blessed and very happy - thanks both of you 🙂

Well, reassmbled it with new string.. Some strange resistance at first but it seems ok after I push it a few times... 😯

Have you put the lower oil seal in the right way up?

That was my first thought, either that or I'd forgotten the retaining clip. But I might strip it down and bring it back yo you for the bushings if I have to remove the seals.

Oh wait... Too much oil in the damper leg would do it, wouldn't it?

Would cause extra pressure in leg, but more likely just to not get full travel rather than the oil blowing past the seals.
