You're missing a bloody wonderful event.
I'm right outside the beer tent now and I can't think of a better place to be. The weather is superb. The music is rocking. The vibe is relaxed.
WCA has pulled one out of the hat for sure.
😀
photos when I recover!
wish I was... bloody work 🙁
So wonderful you are spending your time posting on stw on your phone? 😉
though... if I was at the BBB I wouldn't have landed Mr TheSwede's lovely Ti IF frame, so there's a silver lining for me 8)
Has Juan done the washing up and gone to bed yet?? 8)
Has Juan done the washing up and gone to bed yet??
I doubt it. Playing with water appears to be his preferred choice. Earlier this evening Juan was repeatedly squirting RudeBoy from a great distance, with the biggest water pistole I have ever seen ..... much to the annoyance of the little mouthy cockney sparrow.
Ahh. Don't you love a good hangover?!
Bacon sarnie on the go though!
😀
anything happening there today or has the event finished?
there events on until 2ish then the prizes giving bit, still some beer only 2 hours 10 mins until happy afternoon prices kick in as well, real ales £1 a pint from 12.
It's been a bloody good weekend, nice to put some faces to names.
The beer tents already open, its where i'm posting from.
Thanks Nick/Rich and everyone else who's helped make it a cracker.
BBB 10?

'Mummy that mans got pink gloves!' I thinks this is Juan, at least thats what I heard folk shouting.
Some BBB pics, got back last night!

My man about to race.

Liked this bit of the course, good fun!
Thanks to all who organised BBB we had a great time and thanks to WCA for remembering Joels autism and having a little chill out bit for him, lovely. Joel had an amazing time and I have never (honest) ever seen him so happy or relaxed.

I'm right outside the beer tent now and I can't think of a better place to be.
I'd have thought inside the beer tent would have been better?
I have to agree, we (Thinking for Tuesday) all had a great time and really enjoyed playing last night. I haven't been to a mountain biking event with such a good atmosphere since the Malverns in 1993 or whenever it was!
I am looking forward to next year's BBB already. Next year I'm definitely staying over, bringing my bike, racing and trying all the beers.
Well done and thanks to all involved.
>I am looking forward to next year's BBB already.
Thought this was a one-off ?
WCA has said it's a one off, yes, but I think there's a good chance of a repeat because it is going so well. There's a lot of happy faces about.....
WCA and Soma Rich have put an unbelieveable amount of work into this. They've lived on site since Wednesday and they are both knackered but happy. The prize pool is incredible too.
The man with the pink gloves is indeed Juan
😀
got to have another i've bought all the kit to serve the real ales, so it would be a shame not to get some more use out of it.
Yes I was wearing pink gloves, yes I did the most amazing superman on an Isla bike scooter for the bike limbo, yes I add the best time at a bike event ever, yes I did borrowed someonelses's kid to fail at the tag along race, yes I did the jump lake and it was awesome, yes the track stand was a very good idea, yes the bands were amazing, yes squirting on rude boy was such a relief (if someone sees him ask him about his night), yes I have add many faces to my 'let take a very gay picture just the two of us' photo collection, yes the knock down race was interesting, yes the BBB was a marvelous AND YES WE NEED A BLOODY BBB2 next year.
Now before i claim my stw tart crow back from loula, can I just thanks one more everyone that have help ;arshalling and putting up such great event...
Now WCA for mp?
P.S. pict my come up soon
P.P.S griz finally meeting you was wicked
P.P.P.S if I have missed anything feel free to add something 😀
*wuss mode*
Actually my ego is quite hurt by loulla not coming and saying hello...
Oh im sorry Juan, the only time I saw you was on the Saturday and you were whizzing by, had to leave early with the kiddies 🙁 You may have your tart crown back, for now.
Who was the guy riding in just his pants? Oh if I had been a single lady...
I hope there is another BBB next year, please!!!
Fab weekend, fab weather, fab location, fab people!

Blimey must be embarrassing 4 lots of people all wearing the same and 4 attention whores.
Damn fixed in an edit. 😥
"Who was the guy riding in just his pants? Oh if I had been a single lady..."
That was DrP!!!
There a photos available.............
We had a truly great time as well.
A great XC course for the large folk and loads of fun races for the little dudes.
Awesome support from the sponsors and the thousands of ponds worth of prizes they donated.
Well done WCA and all the team.
Bring on BBB2.
really enjoyed myself 😀
P.P.S griz finally meeting you was wicked
Likewise for me Juan - and not least when I discovered that you and me were born in the same town ! 😯
And, you know the street in which I spent the early days of my life .......... we're like brothers/two peas in a pod we are ! 8) ...... although maybe separated by a few decades 🙄
.
I'm lovin that pic of WCA (flat tyre/beer) ..... classic ! 😀
Has NOBODY else noticed this in Juans posting.....
yes squirting on rude boy was such a relief (if someone sees him ask him about his night),
I personally am laughing out loud!
Yes I, also noticed that ........... but kept quiet ........ 'cause I didn't want to lower the tone of the thread 😉
Brilliant event - lovely relaxed atmosphere and great beer (particularly the cheap stuff being sold off at the end which I'm drinking now 😀 ). Great for families. The tag-a-longs/trailer races with kids was the best idea for a race I've seen. There has got to be a BBB2!
what an ace weekend. just got back; absolutley knackered.
good to meet so many of you guys. cracking work from everyone involved. i wont list names cos i'll only miss out upset some peoiple but everyone worked so hard behind the scenes.
BBB10 is needed.
Amazing event, chilled, fun, great races, brill live music, kids activities, wonderful friendly atmosphere. Unique event for families.. ..Big thanks to Nick and all those that organised this event.. Some photo's including some very cool lake jump shots attached Photos..Looking forward to next year
echo those above, a really good 'fun' event my kids thought it was ace, we made use of the free climbing and tree rope access course and the pedalo's (sp?) a really good atmosphere and also good to put a few faces to names and of course get to be in juan's 'gay just the two of us' photo album.
a few photos of my family enjoying the weekend
well done all those involved..!!
Loving that last photo.
That last foto of fmh's just has to be the subject of a caption comp!
It's beautiful!
The subject of the first should advertise all things cycling!
So glad everyone had such a good time, and a bit sad I couldn't make it. 😀
Anyone remember who the official photographer was?
OMG I'm knackered, a bit sunburned but very happy. I'll try and get my pics up today. We got home after 8pm and collapsed.
Has RudeBoy's embarrasing story been made public yet>
😀
"Has RudeBoy's embarrasing story been made public yet?"
Not yet. A special thread of it's is required for that one.
dave saunders was the photograper, can't link to his site at the moment as i'm using my mobile as i'm taking the empty beer barrels back.
Luke, did you polish the last few pints off then? I'd have stayed and helped you out with that, but we had to be at work today.
I'm absolutely knackered this morning. I need a week off to get over that.
RudeBoy for 'Best Hangover' prize I reckon.
😉
I only had one drink all weekend other than a sampler of each ale before it went on sale. At the end I belive Nick said to people it was free beer, so I asked for donations, and people were generous so thanks.
I think there was a about 20 pints left the I had to throw away to take the emptys back, so not bad at all.
I hurt so VERY VERY much. Thank you everyone who came.
I had the best time I have had at a race/evnt/thingy ever.
You guys made it what it was 🙂
Loving that last photo.
+1 - brilliant!
all ready to go! little 'un 2nd in from left has obviously been tutored in the values of a good start - legs set, elbows out!
Looks like it was a great weekend - well done one and all involved!
Sorry i couldn't come. I wanted to come with the missus and kiddie on Saturday for a look around, but spectator tickets were only available if accompanying a full ticket, and we couldn't afford £50 for an afternoon.
Looked good fun, will try to do the weekend next year (if it's on).
Well done for organising this type of event, we could do with more of them.
Was a good vibe - bit of a shame there wasnt a few more folk, but i cant speak as I couldnt make it on sunday and didnt camp over either (planned to do both but life got in the way). Really wish i could have though as the Sunday sounded like a laugh and i wanted to watch/have-a-go-on the lake jump
The little nippers were great - they were giving it hell on the hastily arranged 'dual slalom' through the barrels.
Who won the trackstand comp? 🙂
Loving that last photo.
+2
Can't wait until mini-clubber's big enough to ride one 🙂
Who won the trackstand comp?
The guy on the Kona single speed with blue project 2's and teh FRM cranks.. No handed no less and I was distracting him quite heavily.....
Sorry i couldn't come. I wanted to come with the missus and kiddie on Saturday for a look around, but spectator tickets were only available if accompanying a full ticket, and we couldn't afford £50 for an afternoon.
That was dropped due to demand, oh well.
All the photos are brilliant! I love the 4 little lads on bikes.
Still on a high from a great weekend, off to Cumbria this afternoon to round off the school holidays. x
Cracking event, really enjoyed it, my first go at XC racing aswell and although riding a Patriot meant I couldnt keep up with the pace that well it was great fun on the rooty, twisty, downhilly bits (and I survived the night race too - only a couple of bruises from not quite getting it right through a couple of trees !) 😀
Enjoyed the weekend, great weather etc, well done for putting it on.
But it did do my head in with No Itinery, not knowing what was going on and all the waiting about after delay delay delay!!!
Some damn good prizes too!!
Pants sorry for the delays....
Some were not avoidable though like when Andy broke the lake jump ramp.
We have learned a lot. I think we could have doen with a few more people organising the events.
Hope you all enjoyed the music 😀
Some of us quite liked the slightly shambolic scheduling!
(I'll get you on that inside line next time, rich!)
Some damn good prizes too!!
Absolutely!
Nice to meet you Clink 🙂 Your far too quick though!
are there any photos of the lake jump up yet?
Hope you all enjoyed the music 😀
Definitely, although not my type of music the bands were really good (especially the one that did some Queen and Deep Purple covers) 🙂
That was Stone3 they were excellent!
I've got photos of most things I think. I'll get them sorted tonight.
I've got a cracker of the bloke breaking the lake jump ramp, head on, from out in a boat!
🙂
Any idea of how much was raised for the Charity yet?
I'd imagine they're still to knackered to count cash yet, Pete! 🙂
I've just been editing my pics. Now I've taken something in the region of 370 shots and I can't find one where there's not a person smiling in it....
😀
Nick told me last night that it could take a few weeks until we know, the amount to charity.
Did all the beer get sold in the end Luke?
Just 20 pints left, apparently
I've just got back from returing the empty barrels only took 7 hours due to the traffic 👿
Yeah only about 20 pints were wasted which was good, a fair few people took bottles home with them full of ale for a donation which was better than wasting it.
And seeing the pic's of kids enjoying themselves got the wife saying she'd come next time and maybe even ride a bike 😆
I've just got back from returing the empty barrels only took 7 hours due to the traffic
I did offer to do Yeovil for you 🙂
You did indeed but I wanted my cash back that I stumped up for the deposit, for it's return.
Thanks for the offer
Yeovil was the easy bit, first stop of the day it got worse from there.
Great weekend indeed. Thanks to the organisers for the massive amount of work they put in.
Are their any similar family events coming up?
Will the race results be published?
Results "might" be published I will ask James the Web guru.
Pics from the DJ

And seeing the pic's of kids enjoying themselves got the wife saying she'd come next time ....
So there's going to be another one then 😉
So there's going to be another one then
Dunno but I hope so.
Photos uploding now!
Another load just started, so it'll be another hour or so before they're all finished.

If you know anyone who might want to see them, please pass the link on
🙂
Were there many people there?
...was the rudeboy story the one you were talking about at the start of the short track xc then Peter? If so, dish it!
Great to put faces to names, top ale, great music (especially the band that did all the Sabbath Covers), kids had a great time, and the xc course was proper hilarious. Oh and Juan made my wife blush when he greeted her like a proper frenchman.
Well worth the journey and we have many fond memories. Huuuuuuuuge thanks to WCA and his team of merry bikesters.
I'm surprised the Rudeboy story hasn't been posted up yet.
Due to other engagements I couldnt make it till 3pm on the Saturday. Quick game of frisbee with Dez and the boy wonder then put up tent, lost in round 1 of the drag race, then did a lap of the XC course. Actually not that bad. Not too fast , or technical, some tight twisty corners that didnt flow, and a loamy loose surface that was unpredictable. Not too long , I imagine overtaking would have been a nightmare as there was basically no double track / bash road.
The event was really well supported by the trade. The bands were excellent. Really liked Firetone, very similat to Funeral for a friend or the LostProphets, both of whom i really like. Putting them up on an arctic trailer was brilliant. Exactly the right height and just big enough for them to perform on. I bought the CD from Thinking for Tuesday , and played it at work today, really good. She has lovely voice and the quality of the production is top class.
I think i spent a little bit too much time in the real ale tent tho , and the next morning was a bit blurry. Rode the XC course 3 laps, once with Pete, then headed off home to beat the traffic and maybe get a windsurf in , which didnt happen.
good points .- Weather, beer , bands, uber friendly atmosphere, kids dancing , friends, Prodigy, Lancaster bomber.
bad bits .- lack of meat in food tent at breakfast time, no rigid timetable for events, lap timing, no enduro ( a tracklogged route round the forest for 30 / 60 /90km would have introduced others to the National Park and added value ) Showers a fair step from campsite. 100 more riders would have made the event.
I was the official photographer & they're in the process of being uploaded as we speak
www.saundersphotography.co.uk
Please remember that money from the sales of the pictures is being donated to the UK Youth Charity via Nick (WCA)
Cracking weekend, really nice chilled out atmosphere.
Got back home at 12/30 last night/this morning, hence why they're only being done now!
this sounds like the event I would have loved to have been at, but am in France at the moment enjoying the excellent hospitality and trails...
Well done to all that were involved, I can't believe there's not more talk about it. Will be there for the next one if there is one....
I am uploading anoth 500ish pics here will be a couple of days at this rate!
