Hi All,
This has worked for Hit The North so I thought I would risk it.
I know loads of you have bought tickets and some others are still planning to. We need your cash now to pay for toilets, marquees etc.
Can anyone who is planning on coming buy their tickets ASAP. Anyone who has bought their ticket, can they get their friends to buy some too.
Cheers
Nick
Gahh! The website won't work for me here at work. We will be buying 2, I can guarantee you that! 🙂
EDIT
Website will be fine, it's our shoddy IT system that's letting me down 🙁
Website is fine, I can't come sadly, may I suggest a link, for the lazy lurkers...
Link! 😀

Its still here.....
8 of us came up from Plymouth last year and had a fabulous time, this year we are coming up as a group of 16...and the extra night we are staying means taking full advantage of the beer tent clearout this time...
buy those tickets now!!!
i guess i should pay up sooner rather than later then 🙂
will confirm my friends are going then get it done.
Chalet booked and tickets paid for.
Are STW towers going to contribute anything given all the profits are going to a very worthy charity?
Oink oink! Flap flap. Oink. Flap. Oink. Flap flap. Oink....flap.......
STW towers are giving us forum space (at the moment) which is very nice of them.
Never really understood why the Ed team objected.
Ah well, you see as I was the 1st buyer last year, I was hanging on to see if I could be the last this year! But this call has made me pay up, so just dun it.
See ya there folks!
Cheers DezB
Keep those ticket sales coming. Thanks
ticket sales
Purchases, shirley?
I think I may have been the first this year.
I got some nice pedals (having much use on my boy's bike) for being first last year 🙂
I have rebuilt my front wheel now. I will therefore be unbeatable*
.
.
*other results may occur on the day.
Checked the bookinga and robdob was indeed first to buy even though he missed the first BBB.
robdob - claim your prize from me on the day.
Cheers
Nick
Sweet!!!!
The sort of keen attitude I have demonstrated in the purchase of the ticket is unlikely to translate into top results at the event, unless there is a "running to the pie stand as soon as it opens" competition.
robdob - There is the Soreen Malt Loaf eating championship...
you need to post some pics of the shitest part of your course. That's how you get a long-running thread....

Ahh. That's my job then. 😉
I don't think I got many course pics from last year though. But I did get
Trailer Bike Challenge

And Juan looking a bit camp!

You are sh*tting me. Really?
Petesgaff - See my pic! 🙂
I like the night race picture. The rider is being chased by a black ghost!
[Cough]Look at me...[/cough]
As reigning 'malt loaf eating champ BBB 2009' I challenge you all to an illegal, late night 'malt-off' after the official competition....!
1200 calories in 4 minues cha-mey!
DrP
As reigning 'malt loaf eating champ BBB 2009'
Was there not a certain, err 'toilet problem' shall we say, shared by the competitors the day(s) after the event....?
Yeah - I seem to remember, but not 100% clear whether it flushed out the system, or required dyno-rod to clear the "blockage"... 😉
DrP
DrP - you're on! How many whole malt loaves did you eat in 4 minutes? Are we allowed spread on it?
At a guess I think I could eat 2 whole Soreens in 4 minutes. I'll have to put some practice in.
The gradients on the kids course look as severe as those at Hit The North (last chance to enter that excellent event btw).
This year we have the same kids course plus a more advanced one for the older kids.
Do we have to use our own kids or can we hire one?
The Malt Loaf will be spread thick with chunky peanut butter. Make sure you practice that Rob.
[edit] you can have my kid. If he doesn't win there's gonna be tears!!
PP missed bike limbo 😀

Plus I am in the night shot 😀 and what do you mean looking a bit camp... I thought you knew me well by now 😉
Peanut butter? Yeeeeeeeuuuccchhhhh!!!!!!
I may be out then. Can't stand the stuff. Could substitute it for a double thick layer of Country Life if that's within the rules??
It's just plain malt loaf IIRC. And it's bloody hard work eating a whole one! I know becasue I saw the PAIN in their eyes.
And later, the PAIN in their bottoms!
Be careful when trading children - remember a slightly heavier kid with better bike control can out way the advantage of a little light one.
Check with the Tunnel Hill Trolls as I am sure they were baby trading during the trailer bike challenge.
I don't want you kid, he's too old, I want someone else kid lightweight and all... Actually where is julian 😀
DrP 08... He's got hairy legs... I want a kid that is as streamlined as possible...
I am sure he will let you wax him down.

I am concerned that you saw the pain in their bottoms. :-/
I'd like at least a minimum standard of privacy when we are there. Mind you, staring at my poop chute is akin to sunbathing in a blast furnace, you have been warned. (parp)
Well RobDob, that mental image has killed the thread
😉
It seems so. I am very sorry. But I am another Atkin so whatever you see in PP youll get in me I'm afraid. 🙂
juan - MemberI don't want you kid, he's too old, I want someone else kid lightweight and all... Actually where is julian
they have both grown quite a bit now! Carl has a small blond thing he might lend you though; here he is in last year's unofficial and unscheduled under-5 breakdance throwdown comp:

Water with the malt loaf us cheating, there should be no drinks allowed that'll sort them out.
That is clearly where all the action, style and fitness was to be found. Was there any older age groups competing as well.
I did briefly until my daughter told me I was rubbish. 🙁
Sounds like another one would be a great fun sailing-perilously-close-to-the-H&S-wind plan though!
Water with the malt loaf us cheating, there should be no drinks allowed that'll sort them out.
While I would agree with you on principle, I can't help thinking that eating all that Soreen without a nice ice cold glass of milk would be a waste.
It's too far for us to travel but all the events look great fun.
It's not too far I reckon. I'm coming from Huddersfield.
Loads of bands confirmed now including in paticular order:

On the subject of Malt Loaf. Any previous competitions are null and void as I was not aware and thus could not compete. This year I shall reign supreme in any and all malt loaf consumption!
But I am another Atkin so whatever you see in PP youll get in me I'm afraid.
There's nothing IN me at all. Nothing that will EVER be IN YOU for certain!
This year I shall reign supreme in any and all malt loaf consumption
Is that a gauntlet hitting the ground I hear? 🙂
I'd be there again this year after my maiden race last time but I'll be in northumberland that weekend
bunnyhop no it's not*
Plus I know the bloke who organize that and I am willing to bet he'll let you bring some of your cottage industry with you
I fancy a bash at the malt loaf munching this year
I'd be there again this year after my maiden race last time but I'll be in northumberland that weekend
That's where the real winners will be.
bunnyhop - come on down. Offset petrol as a business expense, bring some bags and mix business and pleasure
There's nothing IN me at all. Nothing that will EVER be IN YOU for certain!
I don't understand. 🙂
Would you swear an oath to that anyway? Are you sure there's no cake in you at all? It is just after lunch, remember. 🙂
There seems to be a lot of bragging about Soreen consumption here. I'm not going to say I'm going to win, I'll just mention that I once ate half a block of lard once because someone said I couldn't, and (as PP will testify) I used to eat whole raw onions and potatoes for bedtime snacks. It's disgusting, I know, but it's just to let you know I'm serious. 😀
Are you sure there's no cake in you at all
Drat. Foiled again.
I once ate half a block of lard once because someone said I couldn't
Please. Let. That. Be. A. Lie.....?
and (as PP will testify) I used to eat whole raw onions and potatoes for bedtime snacks.
**shudders**
Tis true. 🙁
Don't worry PP the food at the BBB is better than that
how much the people from the BBB will be willing to pay for a piece of my so famous omelette?
Damn. Were all set for booking then looked where it was. Bit of a trek from Lancs for a weekend, that.
Yes it is a bit of a trek, but it's worth it.
loulou - we have people coming from France. Lancs isn't that far. Come down for longer if you want to, you will be able to stay at the Avon Tyrrrell campsite either side of the BBB if you want. You are not the only ones who are doing this.
loulou - we have people coming from the very south of France. Lancs isn't that far. Come down for longer if you want to, you will be able to stay at the Avon Tyrrrell campsite either side of the BBB if you want. You are not the only ones who are doing this.
I corrected it for you 😉
BTW do you need the ticket stills or not? I planned on buying (to buy ?) mind next month, but if you really need the money I can buy them now.
Hi Juan,
We could do with the ticket money now. We have to pay for the Marquees, lights, beer etc in advance.
Cheers
Same is true for anyone else there who hasn't bought their ticket yet.
Bought mine already as it was highly recommended by PP, and Mrs PP

Would get it up in my local corner shop.
