Just setting myself up with a commuter and reckon I should get a lock. What's top of the recommended list? Don't want to go silly on price but it needs to be a good deterent. The bike is a Cotic in Turin so will stick out like a sore thumb but that won't stop it going missing unfortunately.

If you want a safe lock then you need to spend £100+ and expect it to weigh a couple of kilo.

Abus granit magnum or similar. the shackle needs to be double locking and the bar 16mm+

I have got a massive great big almax for locking the mbike up which would do an impeccable job but catching the bus would be preferable to carrying that.

Will look at the granite.

Depends what you want the lock for really.

Locking it up at home, biggest, heaviest, most expensive lock you can find.

Out on the trails, lightest, smallest, cheapest lock you can find. And don't let it out of your sight.

You can spend £100+ on a safe lock, but some are cheaper. Mine, on that list, was £25. 19mm D, 2kg

Leave the lock at work, after all, if it gets nicked overnight it was better than losing your bike in the daytime!
