Emma, surely you've ridden Wales before? Can't believe that someone with your background hasn't!

My tips - Machynlleth for a blend of playground trail centre and "proper" trails.
Nant yr Arian for some lovely swoopy goodness.
Brechfa for berms aplenty
Glyncorrwg for lunch with Luffy

I'd agree with mtb fix's trails personally and also add llandegla. I love the big bmx track feel there but some people hate it.

Different people like different things mate. I have ridden Penmachno and as long as I have a hole in my arse will never go there again. Llandegla for a quick blast and a fun ride ๐Ÿ˜†

S'not all trail centres you know.

Have a butchers at the 'Bikefax' website or one of the guidebooks -
Moel Y Ci or the Druid's Circle ride from the Snowdonia book are particular favourites.
Llangollen is surrounded by amazing naural riding too, some locals on here so I suspect they'll be along soon with more detais.

I know I keep recommending the Bikefax guides (we've exhausted the Snowdonia one and moved onto the North East Wales one now ๐Ÿ™‚ ), but they're great value.

I love Penmachno myself - I find it really challenging in places, but can't resist going back whenever I can - like rereading a favourite book.
I'd really be interested as to what it is about the place that some dislike (I know the Captain's not a fan, as well as Chunkymonkey), and will definately check out the recommended alternatives.

Did a great ride in the Black Mountains at the weekend - lots of good fun rocky trails. Nice and quiet, great views etc. Different end of the spectrum to the trail centres obviously, but much fun all the same.

Another vote for The Gap route. Also 'The Wayfarer', taking in the Berwyns.

Smudge - care to share that route with me please?

My guess is the 2 descents are the chute down to Garreg-ddu reservoir and the Golf Links with the route made up in a clockwise loop joining them? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Excellent natural riding all over Wales really 8)

The Golf Links is a great piece of track.

Mustn't forget Doethie Valley of course.
