A mate is looking to spend c £1k on a trail oriented hardtail, I’m out of touch with bikes of that type, what would people recommend? He was looking at a clockwork orange but it seemed pretty poor quality kit for the price

Theres loads of decent ones.do a forum search as this has been discussed a couple of times recently.also depends what has going to ride on it and what he prefers geometry wise.main difference of modern bikes is long low and slack although the slackness and length can vary.

Pinnacle ramin 2. Ok its heavy stock but it doesn't feel that heavy on the trail
If you want something less aggressive then the current boardman hardtail

If I was spending that kind of money a Spesh Fuse would be high up my list.
