Apart from replacing the pads, is there a quick solution to getting them biting again?

Sanding them and the disc sometimes works as does burning them - however buring can destroy the bonding of the backplates to the friction material

ive tried most things, solvents and even blow lamps with no real effect. Best thing just seems to be to ride* and eventually they wear back in. Ive never thrown any out btw, they just get scrubbed clean i guess. Usually it's just one brake so there is always the other one to rely on ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

*not recommended on steep downhills

A good scrubbing with a wire brush usually helps

there isn't really a solution as the pads absorb the oil, then emit it under heat, i.e when you need the power the most. I got some muc off disc cleaner that works if you know when you've put the oil on and apply straight away (apparently) seems to have worked for me?

I'd just buy some more pads from superstar

depends on how contaminated they are, soaked in? may as well chuck them, bit split on them, sand them down

As Vadar said; isopropyl alcohol, sanding, filing etc all work a bit. Best thing is to use those pads on the back and drag your brakes a fair bit until they come back.

Often just riding about for a bit will sort them out ime. I have some of that muc-off stuff that seems to work too. I got the motorbike version which was a fair bit cheaper and it's been fine.
