Going to build up a road bike for wife's Christmas pressie but which frame? Ragley cragg vale on crc for 100 is the best deal I've come across. There are also a couple of Konas on there at present. Any other ideas before I go for the Ragley?
Cycle Active review was good, but warned of toes hitting front wheel. Why do they make frames like that ?
get a woman's specific frame, there's some konas on crc.
Genesis equilibrium
The cragg vale looks pretty good at the offer price, but I could never really see what is was offering over the ribble winter frame and fork package which is about £150 at the mo, especially when the ragley was at full rrp. With proper guards on the ragley will only take a 23mm tyre and with the toe overlap, might not make it the best bet for an inexperienced rider. (obviously, not makeing any assumptions about your other half, just offering an opinion)
Genesis looks very nice but frame and fork is three times the price of the Ragley and hard to justify. Gone for the Cragg Vale as it can run 23s with a crud catcher, which is about all we will need. Guess she will have to get used to the toe overlap. Cheers
Tis a bargain price, I will admit. I seem to recall one of the reviews saying it was quite short/low at the front, so you might want to bear this in mind when building it for your missus (if she's not mega used to riding a road bike).
I've got a cragg vale in the post to me. Should be on the road next week. I'll let you know how it rides.
