Hello!
Got a route that will pass through either Coleford or Parkend in the FOD. Any reconmendations?
I am not after Michelin stars!

Make the time to go to The Ostrich in Newlands. Well worth the extra few miles!
Best pub food I've had in a long time.
The Fountain in Parkend does reasonable pub fayre and don't mind groups of MTBers (it's the HQ of the local bike club too).
The Ostrich at Newland is indeed a character pub and the food is good. The White Horse at Staunton does good food too (but maybe too [s]expensive[/s]good for a bike ride lunch?). If you're heading towards Redbrook either of these may be on your route depending which off-road trails you're following. The Boat at Redbrook also does pub grub.
Although I live just a couple of miles from Coleford I can't remember the last time I ate out there so can't recommend anywhere in the town.
Cheers guys!
We are definately going to the Boat inn for a drink, but it is too far round the route for lunch!
Will look out for the Fountain, or carry on up to Staunton!
Orepool at Sling does decent food now. Nothing too fancy and prices are ok. Sadly ale is now £2.60 a pint.
Won't give the Woodman in Parkend the time of day let alone my money. Miserable. Miners in Whitecroft good food but busy and knows it. Maybe a touch fancy. Thinks presentation is more important than volume!
Parkend Working Mens Club. End of.
Aye, but which end mind...
its pietastic
I'll second the Fountain Inn at Parkend - bike friendly, great food and a gorgeous landlady!
I'll third the Fountain. Good beer as well.
White Horse Staunton. The New Inn at Christchurch, great food and a good price. Just came second in pub of year for the FOD. Just a couple of miles outside Coleford.
