Work in their infinite wisdom are exiling me to Weston-Super-Mare next week (W/C 31st May) - any riding around that way? XC/DH/4x anything?

Depends on how far you want to roam. Weston Woods is riddled with pretty good singletrack, is surprisingly rough and good for a couple of hours, although full of dog shit. It'd take a local to show you the best stuff, but following your nose is the best advice.
Going further, you can ride over Bleadon hill, down to loxton via Canada Coombe and over to Crooks Peak, which again has some decent contouring singletrack if you're lucky enough to find it. Crooks Peak is really a gateway to Mendip proper by either Callow Drove or Winscombe drove, or dropping onto the strawberry line and going into Axbridge and then Cheddar.
Quantocks is 45mins away in a car, Cwm Carn about an hour, Leigh Woods about 35minutes or Clevedon Woods is about 20 minutes away. The woods there is the start in a few loops which head up and over and around the motorway up towards Pill. From there its possible to link into Leigh Woods.
Head up the coast road from the Grand pier, past Birnbeck pier..... keep going for a couple of miles and there is a pump track on the right hand side, just off the road in the woods. Not tried it, but spotted it from the car the other day whilst working down there and it looked very tidy indeed ๐
That's on the toll road, at the bottom of Weston woods on the Sand Bay
Those dirt jumps a mahoosive! 8ft before leaving the lip. You've gotta be alot more skilled than me to ride those!
Above them, there is a little pump track, but its not that great, unless its changed in the last 5 weeks.
Yep, that sounds like the ones. That's on the toll road, at the bottom of Weston woods on the Sand Bay
We had a blast round cheddar and ended up in weston that night, wasn't far.
Mendips close by are lovely, especially when the bluebells are out and illuminated with an HID lamp.. very considerate of them to grow either side of the singletrack.
Quantocks - I pray to get posted near them for work.. long evenings with nothing to fill them with but fantatsic views and singletrack followed by pub supper at someone elses expense. Couldn't beat that, surely.
What they all said.
We have a sociable Mendips Thursday night ride from Shipham (near Cheddar), feel free to join us if you want ๐
How about the not so well know singletrack and bridleways around the Lulsgate (Bristol Airport) Plateau! You have the coombes of Goblin (very cheeky but good), Brockley, Taps, Cheston and Bourton!
On second thoughts, don't bother, its crap ๐
