I have had a pair of Salsa rigid cromoto forks for ages now - love them.
Need a second pair with a longer AtoC (circa 445mm) for a longer travel frame.
Before I jump in and buy a pair any other recommendations?
Still not sure on carbon ๐ณ
Short list as it stands:
1) Salsa
2) Pipedream fork
3) ???
All recommendations as always much appreciated 8)
go carbon ๐
also look at On One cromoly forks for a well priced option.

Are they not uber heavy?
Both the Salsa & Pipedream are around the 1kg mark ๐
I'm interested in whether its worth spending the extra money on carbon, apart from the obvious reasons.
Kona P2?
fwiw the exotic carbon with steel steerer is only marginally lighter than a salsa.
The pipedream forks I have (fairly old ones) are very light for steel. I have a set in my shed and wager them being lighter than an exotic carbon fork in 425mm....I recall them being a bit twangy mind.

I've got cromotos on my rigid unicogger too, have had for 3 years and like you I think they are great. Other forks to cosider are P2s but I doubt they will be much different, some blingy Ti ons perhaps....but I've read bad things about the cheap Ti forks that come from the far east and seen photos of snapped ones...or carbon but you say no.
Oh and I think Bontrager do some rigid alu forks which aren't as harsh as you'd expect.
If you decide to go down the steel route, Orange F8s are nice forks (I've got a pair on my Pipedream Sirius). They're 450mm a-c (the same as Pipedream's forks) and disc only. If you ask Orange nicely they'll even paint them up for you free of charge (or they did when I had mine done) using one of their custom paint colours.
go for the exotic with the carbon steerer (about 100 quid), or the new white brothers carbons look rather nice as well
Got some nearly new kona p2's for sale in the classifieds going cheap...
+1 Exotic carbon.
Been using mine for 3 years now and love 'em.
My Salsa 445mm cromoto forks weigh 1068gms, my Nuke Proof carbon rigids weigh 791gms (rebranded Exotic forks, I think). I use both forks on the same bike, but generally prefer the carbon forks for MTB, the Salsa forks I generally just use for canal commuting in the darker months cos you can fit traditional mudguards to them.
Nuke proof, Exotic and White brothers forks all look like they're the same fork to me!
I have owned Pace RC32's too, but much prefer the Exotics.
i have 130mm corrected/29er forks off the dimondback mojito they are spot on just the right amount of twang and stiffness
I've used a pair of the Orange F8s.. I like them..
cheap and cheerful but a little bit flexy
exotic carbon 29ers 0.77kg with alu steerer mine are great!
I think that some of the exotic carbon forks have max weight limits - check the details.
Just ordered some Mosso alu carbon skinned,

cheap but might be a bit short 4u.
