The Orange P7 is lovely however that intense plastic bike looks like my dog when it gets constipated, hunched up wi an arched back trying desperately to drop off a malteser, or even a chocolate peanut, i don't care how good it rides but when it looks like that i'd throw a blanket over it.

Welcome to UglyStick Sunday, where bike mingers hang out.

Number one, if it were 12am and I had no other bike to ride, after quite a few Diamond Whites.

It's like the lights have suddenly come on, and you've realised that the fit bird you thought you were dancing with is actually David Dickinson

Winner chooses next bike type.

The best image chooses the next type of bike? Once a .jpeg file becomes self-aware, Judgement Day is only round the corner.

This is not the way to run the comp. You need an "eliminator" thread first where everyone posts pics and votes. After 200 posts/week, those bikes that have been voted on go though to the 2nd round thread. The top 3/5 of that thread go to a finals thread,

I like sumafunks first picture best.
The first one is nice but I think it should have a slightly longer stem, and photoshop out the dropper seatpost cable.

I'd go with Somafunk's - it looks like the kind of bike I'd have - the kind of bike you'd want to just pop out to the shed for a little look at to make sure it was ok (not with the rigid forks though).

rigid back end, suspension up front?

apart form the naked loon with the big fox forks you mean?

to be fair, hardtail to me still means a fully rigid bike as that's what proper mountain bikes are. none of the this new fangled minceyboingy frontage for the weak and limp wristed IT brigade. 😆

So what you meant to say is that a fully rigid bike is a proper mountain bike to you? That's okay. I fail to see how that makes a rigid bike a hardtail though.

Definition: A hardtail mountain bike is simply a mountain bike without rear suspension.

so erm.....up ya muddy gully with a big knobbly nate!!

Why would you call it a hard "tail" if it's all "hard"? The fact that you mention the "tail" implies that the front is "soft". You wouldn't call a full suspension bike a softnose, would you?

harks back to days of early ATB's where you had rear suspension like this

It's a hardtail frame innit.. put whatever fork you want on it.. it's still a hardtail frame

But loving limkilde's stealth number. There's a SIR.9 on the Niner thread on mtbr that's been stealthified & when that Kermit green washes away I fancy stealthing mine up.

Yeah alright, that does make sense. Still, since there already is a quite self-explaining term to describe fully rigids, wouldn't there be a point in differentiating those from hardtails when talking about complete bikes? Oh well.

Tazzy's 1st picture wins.

Anything with clown wheels loses,
strange rigid carbon forks loses,
dropper posts loses,
niche swoopy frame that serves no purpose, loses.

Exactly! Rigid weirdos are always hijacking hardtail threads... 😉

Somafunk's bike (with the proper forks) is clearly the winner, with the Shan a short length behind and the rest fell at the first hurdle.

Cheers for the comments regarding my Hardtail, rides just as good as looks (alert-subjective bike tart-alert) but even "I", with the love of a father towards it would toss it in the ditch if an Engin turned up at my door, especially this one below,

A hardtail frame can be built up into a rigid or hardtail bike. You might as well otherwise start a thread entitled 'show me your singlespeeds' and it be filled with hub gear bikes with singlespeed compatible frames.

I actually think the OP's idea for this thread was a good one. A Quick beauty contest, winner picks the next field/category, wasn't that hard to understand, was it?

Maybe should have stated a limit of one entry only and perhaps been a shade more specific on the criteria for what specific bike
features were allowed but BMXs, bouncers, retro rigid could all be later contests...

of the first five bikes posted I vote for the klein

what about old fashioned steel frame and forks plus niche 26" wheels

and yes I'm ignoring the rules as well 🙄

Somafunk's first pic wins, although I've clearly mis-understood something as I thought that this was about good-looking hardtails and then there are pictures of 29er clownage bikes.

Another small wheeled beauty of a dwarf bike for the vertically challenged amongst us, from birth to death in a few pics

[img] [/img]
Born 13-Aug-2004

[img] [/img]
Suspended 8-Sept-2004

[img] [/img]
Rigid 3-jan-2007

[img] [/img]
Death 11-Sept-2007

It will be resurrected later this year, I'm getting Ben @ Kinetic to repair it 😀 .

3 because raw is always the best colour! That being said, buzz' Evil is probably the best looking/funnest looking bike in the thread. Although I still reckon the NS I posted is perfection, its probably less versatile to ride!
