Little help guys, this goes beyond my knowledge. I have a 2010 Specialized Stumjumper FSR Carbon with a custom bottom bracket (Shimano BB-91, OS, press-in bearing). Can I remove the custom BB91 bottom bracket and replace with a standard bottom bracket like an XTR crankset? My nieve assumption is I can just remove the BB91 and replace with the XTR crankset and bottom bracket.
I'd say no as there are no threads for you to fit a standard BB.
That makes sense chap, I didn't even think of that!!
No you can't, the frame is basically designed to run the Specialized carbon cranks, with press-fit bearings, basically BB30. The BB91 adapters allow you to run normal cranks.
Hopefully you've not worn yours out, as Specialized have been out of stock for about 3 months, they have no idea when they're getting any more, and no one else does them!
Gotta love proprietary components!
