This many be a bit of a daft question but does a frame which takes the Bb86 bb require a specific crankset with a longer, shorter or whatever spindle? Or will a standard compact shimano 105 crank fit...?
Ta
BB86 uses standard HT2 crankset, just make sure you install a Shimano specific BB as you can get SRAM and FSA press fit BB which are a different internal diameter to suit their specific cranksets
The only longer axle crank from Shimano is their Saint DH crank 83mm threaded ISO shells
All Shimano road HT2 use the same width axle width
Great info. Thanks very much. It's for.my gfs bike, she managed to bend the cranks on her bike 25km into a 165km sportif today!! Not sure how that happened but it did!
the shimano bb shown above dont last long before the dreaded creaks start
also the spin of the crank is not great,
im looking at the wheels manufacturing bb86's instead for shimano cranks, nothing but great reviews from them,
the cost of the bb86 fitting tool is a bit high ๐
