Bar plugs with decent width

Bit a a niche request, my daughter loves the ESI racers edge grips on her bike but we are already onto the second set in a short amount of time. They easily pick up end damage like in this picture and it spreads fairly rapidly.

It looks like a decent width and depth bar plug might help. Most plug seem to be a smaller diameter than the grips leaving them exposed. E.g.

Does anyone know of a chunkier design? I've a set of ODI or DMR bmx/mtb end caps which are longer but they do not go in her bars (need to try trimming their insert a little).

Old X-lite ones from off of the 90s would be ideal. Not that that's much help! https://ebay.us/m/ALddJc

I saw on pink bike there was a rider who had "3d printed" plastic end caps on his bars to stop his hands coming off the bars for the recent WC DH round. Can't remember who and can't find it now!

Some thin acrylic and a hole saw would make something similar....

Going to be hard to find from an initial search but oury lockons use to come with (odi) bar plugs that covered the whole lock ring and could be utilised for your issue i think...

Those would be perfect Nuke, in fact I'm sure I had a set that I used for this exact purpose way back. Hmm lets hope they still live in the box of stuff.

Something like the think x-lite was what I head in my head. The muc offs seem to have the length but not massively wide (though that silicone cover they apparently come with could help).

Thanks Matt_ss_xc I will try and find that article as sounds like a possibility.

I binned mine because the old bars in the 90s had such massively thick side walls they would never expand enough to stay in a thinner walled modern bar.ย  ย They were a really good design.ย

It's hard to believe there isn't a modern version.ย ย

Thinking about it a lock on collar would work.

ODI bar plugs are good.

I think I have a pair of old MBUK bar ends caps that bolt onto the outside of the bars like the ODI ones above. I'll have a look at lunch but you can have them for postage if you like. They were silver/grey but probably a bit scruffy now...

I also have some X-lite ones but I'm usuing them. What about the Hope grip doctor, not sure how much coverage you get from those, but fancy colours....

Turns out I haven't got them any more, or at least I can't find them in the shite hole that is my garage....

Also I'm gutted because I can i can only find one of the X-Lite ones, I was using them but changed grips and now misplaced one! 🤬

Thanks for looking anyway. I also can't find the ones I thought I had so probably chucked them out.ย

Hope you manage to find the x-lite one.

I think I may try modifying the gusset bmx ones I have that I could not get into the bars. They have a 30mm outside diameter which looks ideal. Going to try using the expansion pieces from some old road plugs.

Thank you but those look lethal! Fairly sure the coms would disallow them on safety grounds if spotted.

Oddly that's not how I'd remembered them. I thought they were a just a disk 1cm larger diameter than the end of the grips.
