We've been looking at the currency companies and it actually works out about the same for us to take the money out of a cash machine at the other end (we have a Nationwide account), IF French cash machines in Les Gets don't charge for the transaction. Does anyone know if this is the case or not? Are there any banks in Les Gets anyway?
Ta
There are quite a few ATMs in Les Gets.
I've never been charged by the bank whose ATM I was using anywhere in Europe. We usually take enough cash to get us started then take money out as and when needed - my bank (RBS) charges you something but as long as you take out €100 or €200 at a time it's about the same as the best rates you might get for changing money here.
There are banks in Morzine. Some UK banks have reciprocal deals with French banks to allow you to take money. You should let nationwide know you're going abroad in any case, in case they think the accounts been hacked, and stop the card.
I think there's banks in Les Gets, wouldn't swear to it though
I always use the ATM accross the square/ 'place' from L'hotel de tourism in morzine. Never, ever had a problem.
cheers guys.
