I have doen a google search for 1/4" bearings and there seesm to be 3 grades available,grade 10,grade 100 or stainless steel.Are any of these OK for hubs?

Phone your local bearing shop, ask advice, then buy more cheaply on the net. Business as usual!

the number is the level of accuracy on the bearing. the 100 is better than the 10.
i think that you can get 1000's too.

Contrary to the advice above,the lower the number the better the grade it seems.Anyway 100 grade 10 bearings for approx £7 posted seems like a good deal.
