So I bought a new capacious vehicle and I want to keep it looking nice. I'm looking to buy a bag big enough to fit a muddy bike in whole. I've checked out the Duffbag Monster but their website looks outdated and reviews state the goods don't arrive. So waddya recommend?

Maybe two tarps if you want to be sure.

The other thing I have is a big bit of thick cardboard on the boot floor under the tarp. Something like a side of a cardboard bike box or big TV box.

If any moisture gets through then the cardboard seems to soak it up without it getting to the carpet. Chuck the cardboard away about once a year. Also handy for changing standing in stony car parks.

Other thing I have is a big IKEA bag for filthy riding kit, big enough to stand in to strip straight into the bag.

Looks like I could be going the tarp route. Should have mentioned, it's a van so bike will be upright. Something that zips up would be better.

IKEA bag is good for the clothes.

Evoc do one. Not the one for taking it on a plane, but one that seems to fit your description pretty well.

I use a gas BBQ cover, turn the bike upside down remove the wheels and pop on the BBQ cover.

That Evoc Bike Cover looks perfect. Albeit a bit spendy. Need to find a sale on

You can buy zips that tape onto polythene sheeting and you cut down them to create an opening. They are used in building/refurbs when areas are screened off but you need an access door.

They might work with a cheap B&Q tarp. Worth a try.

Edit: like this https://www.protection.co.uk/products/zipwall-zipper-kit/

Old double duvet in back put bike on and wrap over. Soaks all mud etc up and cushions it.

I’ve got an old Neal Pryde bike bag, bit like this one Old review

Let me know if you are interested in it as I no longer use it. Not tried it with 29 wheels, works well on 26ers

That Polaris one is actually a velo sock product. https://velosock.com/14-indoor-bike-covers#10-rio

I've got two as the bikes live in doors. Paid more like £35 for my last one. They have frequent sales.

Works well, just need to be careful of sharp pedal pins when putting them on.

what about one of the bike covers you can get for storing bikes outside. Theyre pretty cheap. Personally id go the tarp route.

Merino wool blankets work for me. Bright red. Just shake off the dried muck once in a while, hardly ever need washing. Lovely. They were my gran's 🙂

I bought a Rhino boot liner when I got this car 6 years ago, done an ok job, although the velcro would never stay stuck, always used heavy duty plastics sheets before worked but more likely to get ripped.
A friend bought pond liner from a garden centre and roughly cut to size, waterproof and cushioned. I've never been worried about fully enclosing the bike though as the water and dirt tends to fall down.

Bag from a bed shop that kingsize mattresses are shipped in.

This is what I use, makes it very easy to slide the bike in and out too.

How easy is it to get the bike in and out of those ctc bags? I use an old double duvet cover at the moment which works but is a bit awkward to get the bike into on my own without sitting it in on the floor, invariably in a muddy puddle. Which rather defeats the point.

+1 For a HatchBag
You can chuck anything in the boot and it doesn't ruin it. I had a Camelbak empty itself, 3L of water all over the boot, but it didn't seep through to the boot! It's also great for just chucking stuff in the boot and not worrying about the interior.

I tried a tarpaulin and it was rubbish, somehow dry mud made its way through the to the boot and rear seats, despite being very careful. I was unable to try a bag for the bike as it was too big to fit the bike in the bag in the car.

Looks like DuffBag has a new maker / distributor (Otivam). I ordered a Monster and Monday and it was here by the end of the week.

The Hatchbag is great but I wanted something to bag up the bike to be able to take it into hotel rooms etc.
