Starting to get annoyed with the Floats on the front of my Five!!

I've had the bike since November and not really done that many miles on it but the forks have still got quite bad stiction (if thats the right word!) Really poor small bump sensitivity over little cobbles (e.g. stoney bridleways / tracks) - the friction in the forks is making them really jerky over these although they're on bigger hits. I've tried various combinations with the compression and rebound dials but can't seem to dial it out. I weigh about 12st so have been running them at 70-80psi.

Anybody had a similar problem or able to suggest a remedy?

How long should they take to break in?

Also, any advice on servicing the seals much appreciated - can I just use the method for other Foxs?

Cheers all, Andy.

get the lowers off , soak the foam rings in fork oil ,and put 25ml of fork oil in each lower, that'll fix it

I was reading a review of the new Float 36 and heard the same thing. I think it's to do with the new FIT cartridge. Not sure that's any help, sorry.

Have you tried themwith the compression damping at minimum? If they are still sticky then its a fault and try a oli change as suggested

could try popping them upside down overnight to soak the seals, cheaper than mojo and nowt to lose (assuming nothing leaks onto rotors)

Thanks guys, seems a bit much to have to remove the lowers on them just to (try to!) get them to work properly. Have tried all the other things suggested already though, think I'll give Mojo a call on Monday.. Sounds like low oil levels could also be a cause.

Thanks again, Andy.

although it may seem so it isn't rocket science taking the lowers off, just undo the 2 nuts, give them a gentle tap, and slide them off, then all you need to do is squirt some oil onto the foam rings(below the wipers) and put 20ml back in when the lowers are slid back on again. the fork will not explode into a million peices, only two
