I thought he'd pull it out of the bag after 2 world cup wins and the Lisbon Dwnhill, but anyways.

Well done to Josh, Steve and Dan who all did really well.

On a negative point, i wish the Eurosport commentator would get his facts right, as he referred to Gee Atherton as a Local Scotsman all the way through their coverage. Is it me or do they live inside the Welsh Border somewhere near Oswestry ? They're English as well !

Actually thought Fabien Barel (commentating on Freecaster) was really good - knowledgeable (as you'd expect), able to put it across well and entertaining too (even with Rob Warner raving in the background!)

Fabien Barel was good - predicted Minaar's win and that there was a couple of extra seconds left to be gained after Hill's run.

Warner makes me larf though, he sounds either drunk or hungover. Barrell's commentary was useful though, at least he knew the starting order, Warner was guessing it.

It was interesting see the fitness levels, some riders didn't have energy to sprint the last km - it seemed to make a big difference. Wish they had more cameras down the course though.

martinxyz - that'll be the speed at the finish - not the average speed. average speed for the whole course will be around 35kph, which is still ridiculous.

Gee fourth.

Anyone know what happened to Ben Cathro? He didn't appear out of the woods on Freecaster and not much was said about it. He would have been pushing top ten at least.

Yeah i gotta say i was impressed with barel commentating. get him with the facts and sensible side and the caveman with his quotes and mentality. makes a great commentating team. normally the other person gets drowned out by warner but barel held his own.
racing side. shame for peaty but 6th ain't all that bad! still top of the overall. bryceland coming in 7th was a good show too.

Barel was a great commentator. How he could see that Minaar gapped the first rock garden i'll never know though.

@Brycey:

Someone in the coach queue was saying that Cathro had 2 crashes, and on the second one dislocated his ankle. Someone at the trackside popped it back in for him, apparently - ouch!

I was getting right into the coverage today but I kept being put off by everyone wearing those bloody ridiculous hats. It seems to be a successful dowhillist you need an affinity for truly terrible sunglasses and trucker caps.
Am I the only one getting very worked up over this? Sorry...

Nowhere near as bad as the Heart shaped shades some roadie had on in that crit on ITV4 last night!

I`m not into the trucker cap thing either.theres been far better looking caps in fashion over the years and fashions come and go but thats just it...fashion. we all turn into a bunch of daft looking sheep at some point in our lives.we all regret things in fashion.. in 20 years time a lot of people will be laughing at the trucker cap along with how they suffered by wearing their trousers around the underside of their buttocks.. just to be cool.

but look back at what YOU might have worn in the past and tell todays generation about it. go on, tell em about yer burgundy staypress trousers,v necks and collarless shirts!

Saw Ben Cathro's crashes. First one was just above the Deer fence and he lost lots of time, so he let the next rider through and started to cruise down behind him. Then just after the deer fence his front wheel exploded and he was down on the track for quite some time. It looked like he then tried to continue down the trail on foot and went over on his ankle. He was being attended to by medics when we passed him and looked in a lot of pain and pretty upset. My dad is a paramedic there and said he was pretty tired and emotional in the medics tent later. Poor guy.

Wasn't a good day for the MTB Cut boys as Joe Barnes wiped out at a similar spot just above the trees and just cruised down after that.

Where did Tracey Moseley come? Did she crash or something? Unusual for her not even to be on the podium.

Warner really doesn't know where the line is, "Disappeared off the radar like an air france flight." Sometime he's funny other times he's an arse.

Tracey Mosely was 7th in the end I think, not sure about if she crashed.

Did anyone see the Finnish (I think) guy, can't remember the name, who clearead the final steep drop bit from the bump before it? Bloody amazing!

Everyone else was landing then dropping but he just cleared the whole thing.

That Eurosport fella was woeful, he got the facts wrong, names totally wrong.......i could have done better! At least i know whos who and who rides for who.

Still, good exposure (kind of!!!) for the sport we live for!

Just watching a few clips on Freecaster - Warner is just a quality balloon!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought that was funny. People are desperate to be offended. It's only a joke. That's how humans make sense of the world and life and tragic events etc.

Yeah, I saw that. I wasn't expecting it and it made my tummy spin a bit when he suddenly plummeted down. It was Matti Lehikoinen, I think.

and that is a BIG drop. matti minced his knee last year at fort bill and prior to that broke his neck! now thats hardcore.eurosport commentary - that was awful that's what you get for using a road commentator! I would expect he was sitting in front of a tv monitor down south somewhere . I think I will apply. it was just really poor coverage all round.

ha ha Lehikonen was absolutely amazing on that final chute. rode the enduro dh there last year and pedalling into it and staying off the brakes to the finish was awesome fun but "hucking" it? no way. he's crazy

My bike - he dropped it and only just made the transition, I didn't see anyone else doing that! Your photo is Peat over the finish 50m down the track!

Minnaar hopped the whole rock garden last time he won at Ft Bill too.
If you've ever ridden it you'd have spotted it pretty easily TBH. you'd also know what a horrible wee speed sapping bit of track with no real smooth line through it that is, but also how absolutely insane it is to be able to clear the whole thing. Minnaar's speed and jumping skill is pretty insane tho. I'd put money on it that even Minnaar couldn't do that without SPDs.

nice shot, i like the photographers in the back checking to see if they got their shot.

due to having a very cold bonce i got myself a nice wee singletrack subscription while i was there along with a tshirt and a water bottle and most importantly a wooly hat
