Just built up a 09 Orange 5. It's the version of the frame that doesn't have the zip tied cable guides on the downtube by the swing arm. Basically, the cables run through the guides above the shock, under the shock and into the swingarm grommets. Looks like there is going to be a lot of cable movement and therefore cable rub on the down tubes as well as possible the aircan on the shock.

Other than helitape, anybody got any recommendations on how to minimise the rub ?

Small ziptie on the cable either side of the guide to stop it moving too far, no sign of cable rub after two years of regular use, originally used to stop the gear outer inchworming it's way out of the back of the swingarm and making a huge loop(non shadow type mech).

Best way to avoid cable rub on a five is to not buy a five.

Combine the zip ties with crossing over the cable and hose under the forward shock mount.
It makes the cables loop away from the downtube. A bit of helitape is a good idea too.
My 08 Five still looks like new when I changed the helitape recently to put some new decals on. (new colour scheme to match some Hope green bits I acquired)

Cheers guys. I've already got he cables crossed over so I'll give zip ties either side of the guide a go.
