seems like a bit of a beyatch to find these litte critters.

would anyone have any spare barbs/olives lying about they could donate to a little project please?

I don't have any spare, but they seem to be fairly easy to get hold of.
Just checked on CRC & they have them. Search for 'avid olive' 'avid barb' & you'll find them.

If you have the patience and a sharp knife (or dremel), you can actually cut the hose end way to pull out the barb, which you can re-use - hence you'll only need a new olive.

True...I threw the old ones out when I shortened my hoses, because I'm an idiot.

The newer barb unscrews so is even easier to get out. It's on a fine thread, so be patient if it doesn't look like it's moving initially.
You will need new olives though (as above), as they deform around the hose.

Incidentally, an easier way to reuse the barb is to set it on fire. No, really! Remove the o-ring if it has one, cut the cable end down short, and spark it up. Once the plastic softens slightly you can remove the barb and clean it up.
