Feeling a bit of a muppet. In my head 160mmm is 160mm and 185mm is 185mm. Thats what IS units are for.

However despite trying hayes, Aztec and Hope discs (160mm rear 185mm front) i cannot get them to fit with the Elixir CRs i just bought from the classifieds without the edge of the rotor catching the caplier body.

So my query is do i have to buy Avids own discs to get it to work or am i supposed to have spacers to go between the adapters and the calipers to add a few mm extra.

So am i being a numpty, do I need to go shopping for rotors or am i missing something vital to the fitting of the brake?

try a few washers inbetween the adaptors and calipers it costs f all and works well for me just make sure that all of your pad is in contact with the rotor so you don't wear a lip into the pad.

space it up until the rotor JUST clears the caliper body

thats the ticket, dont have any spacers with the brakes so causing clearance issues. Have added a few m5 galvanised washers but even with 4 on both bolts was still having clearance issues.

Loking at that picture the spacers that come with the brakes are pretty large, have contacted the seller in the hope of getting the spacers that oroginally came with the brakes i bought. If that fails where is a good cheap place for washers as B&Q were 2.80 for 10 galvanised M5 washers which is not a cheap fix.

Got any old v-brakes knocking around? The Avid 'spacers' just seem to be those off v-brake pads (DISCLAIMER: never tried them, so might be a different size) so they allow you to tune the calipers angle. But any old one would work to just space it out
