By using a post to post 180mm adaptor, plus a couple of washers, the intensive 'up and down the street test' would suggest that one shall survive...
TBH, I can't see it being any different to the bunch of domed washers that come with Avid calipers....can it...?!

Did the exact same with mine earlier after realising the avid adaptor won't accommodate a shimano caliper. Fingers crossed!

you might have room there to get a set of concave/convex washers to allow better alignment (as avid brakes)
