Has anyone any experience of Argon 18 bikes?

I saw one of these the other day and it looked stunning (Matt Black) and the geometry (Small) looks like a good fit for me. £1200 for the frameset. Other candidates are Spesh Roubaix (52cm) or Trek Madone (52/54cm)

Looking for a 540mm TT with a HT circa 140mm (or at least 130+). Tarmac/Focus/Cube/Scott/Felt/Wilier are not an ideal fit for one reason or another. Giant TCR may be OK but may also be a tad short.

Colnago would be perfect, and come to that I think a Parlee would also fit 😀

Read a review of one of these in cycling weekly some months ago and it came out very favourably, if i remember correctly they also make alot of components and maybe even frames for other brands and are now selling under their own name.

They have been around for a while and generally get good reviews.

I have an Arsenic cx bike and I quite like it, certainly it works better for me than the bmc cross machine I had previously.
They're a Canadian brand but the frames are made in China, for what that's worth.

Canadian, sponsor the Spidertech pro team.

Speak to the guys at Primera, they've got loads in the shop.

good frames, a bit weighty for the price though.....

check out ebay, they have last years models for around £500 starting proce, you may get a bargain although that matt black finish looks awesome!

Thanks - I agree they do seem to come up a little heavy by modern standards although Time/Colnago etc are not known for lightweight frames, and I suspected they may be made in China rather than Taiwan, but I don't know whether that should be a concern or not?

Local LBS is SigmaSport who stock them, that is where I saw the matt black one.

trailmoggy,

thanks for the tip on ST angle. My assessment was based on my LBS taking measurements from my existing bike, so we are not far off. I reckon I need TT between 535 and 545 depending on ST angle and a good length HT. 535 will require steeper ST angle and 545 a lesser one. Sod HT angle 😆

My 'road' LBS rates them really highly. A really experienced roadie friend has been riding one competitively for a year and also really rates them.

Phone Rob at http://www.lifecycleuk.com/ and just talk to him about them before deciding.

its the first thing i tell people when sizing a road bike, it can knock you out a couple of centimetres

and theyre are'nt many bad frames out there as long as you stick with good brands, its all about personal preferance.
