the only person i know with one has had no end of problems, snapped frame, snapped swingarm. snapped shock mountings.

i personally wouldnt touch one with a bargepole. plenty of better, lighter, stronger better performing bikes out there.

I reckon you could buy a better bike new for that money - plenty of 07 and 08 bikes still on offer.

Alloy ransoms are nothing special, heavy, most reviews have rated them as average. For that money I would expect a carbon ransom, which is better but still not the best full sus you can get for 2K second hand.

Long stem and bar ends on a 6.5 inch travel bike. All that red, have to agree with oldgrump08. Barf!
Is the buyer selling it on already?

Good god thats ugly!! Don't buy it for god sake, people will s**** at you....

Also i have read and had customers tell me that the rear shocks are crap reliability wise as the constantly get covered in shite due to position.

Mate of mine broke 2 frames in the space of a year... first snapped at the bottom bracket in dalby forest... going up hill 😉 and the second frame snapped on the rear stay... was given carbon one for his third and all the bearing went in that frame!!! def crap bike and scott were not very helpful.

Why buy 2nd hand with 2k to spend?
Trek Fuel EX9, Rush Carbon, Remedy, Roscoe, Marin,Larpiere, Spesh.. The list is endless

You can get a decent full sus with full warranty and decent components for that! Full warranty on shocks, brakes...
Chances are if its on ebay it will probably be knackered!

You can get a new 08 wolf ridge for 1400 from j e james and a couple of others. I've just got an 08 attack trail second hand and so far it's a great bike.

thanks tails that sounds about the best thing to do.iv,e had a spesh xc pro for 12 months now and i feel my riding has got braver and more bold so i think it,s time for a more burly stronger bike with a bit more travel.the list is going throgh my head already.cheers bud

the list is going throgh my head already.

i think thats the problem with bike companies these days there all so bloody good, it really does come down to colour and price. in the past say you were buying a hardcore hardtail you had a choice of santa cruz chameleon, spooky, identiti now every brand makes one. My personal choice (bearing in mind i have never ridden full sus) would be a cannondale rush.

Maybe try to go on some of those demo days where you get to ride a variety of new bikes?

I've actually never ridden a bike before buying it (due to being stingy and only buying discounted bikes), but I have ridden a few before not buying them!

Got to agree with the above Rob. If you've got 2.5k to spend, then get yourself into a decent local shop and buy new. Plenty of choice. Don't even think about spending that much on a second hand bike until you're a bit more experienced and know what to look for and how much to pay for it. I hope that doesn't sound arsey, I mean that in the nicest way 🙂

for 2k you can get an amazing bike brand new with full warranty. Don't spend that much second hand IMO

Not sure if it's still there, but IIRC John's Bikes on Bath have a Trek Remedy for around the £1800 mark. Stunning bike, you really couldn't get much better. My mate Sean has hammered one all over Wales and the Forest of Dean and has nothing but good words for it. They're on 01225 334633.

Guest snapped one of the alu ones last summer. Had been well thrashed during the week, but I can confirm the actual breakage occurred while "just riding along" (although he had had a big stack 5 minutes before).
