Hi, I'm hoping some of you folk may be able to help me out on this one. What it is is i've just bought a new pair of xt 770 10 speed shifters ( not through my door yet) and I'm unsure if they'll work with the mechs I have in mind, the new xt ones m786? Are the xt m770 10 speed in the dyna sys range as in the pic of my shifters there isn't the D on the right hand shifter. Hope this makes sense cheers Rob

If the M770 are 10 speed then yes they will work with the 786 rear mech. However if they haven't got a D on them I would check they really are 10 speed. I thought all 10 speed had a D on it. The shifter will have the model number on the bottom, it should say SL-M770-10 or you could just count the clicks. 9 clicks = 10 speed.

The 10 speed shifers look a bit different - more angular shifter windows. Check out the pictures on CRC or somewhere to see what yours looks like.

They might do, I'll check when I get them here, just as of now i'm a bit worried as I bought them of a chap on ebay and I'm unsure if he'll take them back, he say they are brand new never used and 10 speed though and his feedback in 1100 odd 100%. so all should be good... I hope

here you go: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=20701

9 speed have the window screws diagonal

and 10 speed have the screw holes inline and look a bit more straight edged in general:

the ones in the pic are 9 speed. Have bought a few things off Absolute before and not had a problem so probably just a mistake.

Does it make a difference since I asked him to set up a BIN price on them?? As I said he says they're 10 speed and his feedback is very good.

Thought so, the 10 speed M770 shifters did have the D on them.

You haven't actually received the shifters yet though have you? So the picture in his advert may be wrong and you could still receive the correct item. I wouldn't panic too much yet.
