Hi All,
I'm told the Pentlands are not rideable (although any first-hand reports would be appreciated), Glentress is reporting that almost all trails are unrideable and I'm guessing Innerleithen will be that same. Is there anything out there that anyone can suggest for a ride tomorrow?
Cheers - Adam...
Coastal route thru the Dalmeny estate - hardly exciting MTBing but very pleasant. Thats what I did yesterday along with some old railway lines and the canals.
Interestingly just inside the estate at the queensferry end there were kids on jump bike in the woods - presumably they have made some routes in there.
I would expect the pentlands to be a mix of slush and mud - not really sustainable. Same for the lammermuirs and so on.
Saltoun forset has some trails but all the singletrack will be very wet I think. There are trails in the area between pencaitland, tranent and haddington.
Roslyn glen?
There'll be some rideable stuff in the pentlands, if I was heading out, I'd go along the WoL, then maybe up Poet's, up to the bottom of maiden's, evaluate from there. Looks good? Into the hills. Looks grim? Across to harlaw ranger centre, down singletrack, down road, farm track across and down to WoL and home.
Not a great description, but if you know the area you should be able to work out what I'm on about 🙂
Thanks Jeremy, IA. I was thinking about the ride through Dalmeny to S Queensferry but I agree with Jeremy that, even if technically navigable, the trails in the Pentlands will be too sensitive.
Thanks for suggestions, though. I think we might be walking the Fife Coastal Path instead...
Cheers - Adam.
