i bought a 'used not used' 12sp group of a mate. XT mech, shifter and chain. SLX cassette and Deore crankset.
the cranks are goosed. gone in the bin after falling off for the third time today.
if i was to reinstall my 11sp cranks/chainring - would they work with my 12sp chain?
alternatively, i might try keeping the 12sp DS crank and chainring on, but swap the NDS crank arm..
if it falls of again i know its the spindle that buggered...?
I use a combo of 10/11/12 speed stuff and have not had an issue yet.
Could you not put the 12 speed chainring on the other cranks?

I just took my 12 speed XT cranks of my 4 week old Orbea to replace then with 165s...
I got a driveside slx 12 speed that’s ok as the non driveside is knackered. Let me know!
I've used 12spd KMC chains on 11spd setups, no problem.
Not sure if Shimano/Sram chains are equally happy in such circumstances.
well ive done it and it seems fine it the stand. had a little spin up the road, sounds a bit gravelly but appears to work ok. ill probably need a new chain when i come to replace the 11speed ring - but at least i can ride tomoz...
