Doing a couple Triathlon's and a few TT's this year and wondering whether its worth getting a set of clip ons.

Any experience or recommendations?

I have used them a few years ago but not when doing anything competitive. Especially into a headwind they do make a noticeable difference - same effort going into the pedals and drop onto the aero bars I could run a gear higher.

Yes. You need to get yourself further forward to make good use of them though, by flipping a layback post the wrong way round or sliding your saddle all the way forward on its rails.

1st Tri is in May so a bit of time yet but prob a good idea to get some early to get use to the change of riding position.

Any suggestions would be cool, seems to be a fair range in the price for clipons

these

www.rutlandcycling.com/13266/Outland-Tri-Handlebar.html

had a set of profile ones last year, quite heavy and not very adjustable, these got a very good review in either cycling plus or triathlon plus. they are independant of each other and clamp so they sit under the bar rather than above it so you can get a really low position, or a relatively low position if you have a high head tube. this is the cheapest place of r them as well. a google search brings up a mamgazine review of them
