As per the title really, anyone got one and willing to share photos and a small review?

I'm contemplating one to replace my ageing Planet X Uncle John frame for winter road/gravel/all road duties and they seem to be pretty good value.

i want a 725 Elan, to move my disk trucker onto a lighter frame (the bits are all fairly light already, not touring duty stuff), and the Elan is on of the few frames that has still got IS brake mounts and 9mm QR.
No 60cms in sparkling black though 🙁

A mate had a Ti one stolen in lockdown - great practical winter bike, terrific value, he only replaced it with something else as they couldn't get any groupsets in furing lockdown.

He'd had a couple of Spa bikes before that - slightly quirky shop but really know their touring/audax market.

I want one to complement my Disc Trucker, more of an all rounder.

I've not tried the Elan, but I've tried the Wayfarer, which was an exceptionally well designed frame.

Heres a question then.
Whats the difference btween the Elan 725, and the Aubisque 725?

Aubisque is a Road-road bike, and the Elan "can hit the trails" ??

Both out of stock in 60cm, so academic.

My mate and his mate AND his mate all went to Spa cycles, got to test ride out from the shop and up to Ripon I think , all three came back and ordered Elan bikes, one a titanium model one carbon maybe and one with a small super compact chainset they are all pleased .

I can't really fault my Elan Ti, used for touring, Audax including PBP, winter road miles and now gravel duties. A comfortable ride.

The guy who designed many of the Spa bikes, 532colin, explains lots about them on the cycling UK forum for example…

@ElShalimo 9mm QR, all I've ever ridden so I don't know if I'm missing anything.

Give them a ring, if you can't get there in person.

Now, im in a funny place of "i want IS mount and QR dropous because thats what my TRP Spyres and Hope Bulb wheels have on them, and im too cheap to buy new brakes or hubs" but im also simultaneously thinking "stuff it, im gonna drop £1k on the Ti one on a whim cause it looks nice."

Ambivalence

The Ti one has an aura of "the last road bike you would need to buy", if youre not coming from a place of serious road riding.
Im a mountain biker, i want a road bike as a side quest not a main bike, this one should tick all my boxes till im at least 104.

Put your current bike and the one youre looking at side by side?

@Olly that side by side link is brilliant.

(internal monologue ) Now do I continue to ride and service my two nice bikes until they die - or go compare and tinker with options/brain-cells/budget. (Considers life-choices)
