Should I feel the need to sell some organs to fund a new bike purchase, is the CCDB worth the extra £400 upgrade cost, I know Steve Jones in Dirt had one on test, but they haven't followed it up?
Anyone ridden one, and whats you're opinion?

Have you contacted Dirt? They may be able to help with a follow up. As i recall, Steve Jones' 5 is a prototype 'thin-walled' frame that is stupidly light!

there's a few on here with coil shocks on there 5's, jam bo on here has a van rc i think and rates it. Not sure about a ccdb, quite an upgrade off the shelf money wise. My next treat for the 5 when i can afford it is a 2010 van r pushed from tf - thats as close as i'll get performance wise to a ccdb. I'm sure they are great if your competent with shock set up but £600, i'll pass!

A mate bought an Alpine with the CCDB upgrade about 2 months ago, having ridden Orange bikes (Five & 222/3/4) for years. He's one of the quickest DHers I know and he seriously rates the shock - reckons it's a big upgrade compared to the Fox.
