I bought a Saris Bones last year and haven't had the balls to actually use it on my S2000. I fitted it on the car and hooked my bike on when I first bought it but the bike looks so precarious hanging off the back in mid-air. ๐
I'm sure providing the straps are all done up it'll be fine, anyone else tried on a roadster car?
Grumpy Stevo from here uses that combo.
I have the Saris Bones RS for my S2000. Have had two bikes on it and never had a problem. Ratchet system is quick and easy to fit and has never loosened. Does look ridiculous though.
Saris Bones + MX-5 here. Bike has travlled to south of France and back on it, and all over UK.
Just make sure that pedals/wheels etc. Don't damage the paintwork.
Oh, and before using in anger, clean the car thoroughly, then put some helicopter tape on the paintwork where the feet sit. Otherwise they *will* scratch it.
Ditto everything ourmaininthenorth said, get the helicopter tape down first. Bones plus MX-5 here, used pretty much once a week for over a year now.
Only problem I've had is that the boot lid on the MX-5 is aluminium, and it's not all that rigid. You can see a fair bit of up/down movement in the boot lid at speed, over bumps, etc. So far so good, but I try not to carry 2 bikes on it to minimize the stress on the lid.
