I live in Bestwood village and just wondered who lives nearby and where you ride?
Is there any good fast twitchy singletrack close to me that i'm missing?

I live in Ruddington, just south of the city. Best riding is north of the city. Presume you already ride at Sherwood Pines? Some very nice stuff at Burntstump, Blidworth, Sansom woods and Gravelly Bottom as well. Bits of stuff south of city near me near Gotham.

Dr Adams - mail me at rtedge at hotmail.com and I'll share what little wisdom I have re south of the river riding...some good stuff ride-able from Wilford....

Hemlock Stone (Stapleford hill) is really small. The council have designated a couple of areas for mountain biking but people ride on the areas where they aren't supposed to so I think a few railings/logs will appear soon. Have a look at this link for some videos of the hemlock and some other local stuff which is probably secret.

pimpmyride - I live in Carrington so not too far from you.

Have you explored Bestwood Country Park yet? Although not the largest of places there is some pretty good singletrack to be found if you have a good look. Its not too bad for a quick evening blast.

bestwood park has some good bits, its fairly small but can be linked with annesley for a 2-3 hour ride or you can do a bit further by going out to burntstump and linking the forests up for 60k plus easy. you like that one dont you twang?!

Get in touch with Pete over at www.mountainbikerides.co.uk

Theres a bunch of good lads that ride every Saturday and every Thurs night from the Bridge Inn at Oxton.

They have great local knowledge and do lots of away rides too.

If I'm ever home (Southwell) with a bike, I drop in with them for a ride.

You live half an hour from Matlock and not much more from the Dark Peak/Sheffield. Plenty of decent riding there if you can drive.

I'm from junction 26 of the M1 (yes, I live under the bridge). The Peaks is so close, it's rude not to. Didn't realise so many people on here were from Nottingham.

Spitting distance from J26 also! A group of us 'usually' ride on a Thursday night. However we have lapsed and it's been a while.

I'm from Snottingham too born and bred and lived in most of the areas too, I don't really care what others say about the gun/drug crimes I still think it's one of the best Cities in the UK.

Another Nottingham bod here, and am sometimes seen (rarely it seems at the moment) out riding with Spud on a Thursday...

We're usually out and about on the routes going out from Strelley and wandering all over... there are some surprisingly good little bits of singletrack hidden about the place when you know where to look.. :o)

gizzardman, annesley is pretty small so all the trails are fairly short and sweet but you can link up a multiple figure of eight type doohicky to entertain yourself for 45 mins, more if you session some bits. i normally start from kimberley and within 1k its some cheeky singletrack out to moorgreen which links easily to annesley. bit of a loop round there depending on time then a bit of cycle trail/ suburban stuff to link up to bestwood, 5 sweet little descents round there then back through bulwell hall park (via the cheeky chute of the old railway track). its usually 3-4 hours riding depending on how long you play in annesley and how many sandwich/ lets do it again! stops you have.

Not made it over to Shining Cliff Woods on an MTB - time and family mean that MTB rides tend to be more local, and longer rides that way tend to be of the skinny tyred variety. One day I will get my priorities sorted.....

Used to be Notts but Now Derby. Ambergate is the mutts nuts ( its 30 mins from J25 M1 where I am so I class it as my local) and you can ride from shining cliff for an all dayer up the high peak trail round carsington a good 45 mile loop all in. Lots of flat stuff on the River Trent and Canals, bestwood also ace, sherwood forest also good

bit of both vdubber, shining cliff has some mega downhill runs and a few jump courses, the rest is proper off road singletrack
