There are patches on the neck and hood of my relatively new Rab eVent jacket which have taken on a translucent appearance, such that in certain lights you can see the colour of the face fabric from the inside.
I've washed the jacket 'often' as the care label suggests, but Rab still came back to say that the translucent appearance was due to accumulated grime, I mustn't have washed it 'often' enough, the grime would be difficult to remove, and that yes, it could affect the waterproofness of the jacket as the grime acted like a sponge and 'soak' water through the fabric. He wouldn't tell me what the best product was to try and remove the accumulated grime though.
I'm thinking just getting some Persil Bio liquid and using a toothbrush to work it into the affected area, before washing/rinsing/reproofing as normal. Any other suggestions?
