*takes the bait*

What a bizarre comment, what reality is that? Racers strip away all the faff to leave you with just your legs, and the pedals. Nowt more realistic than that!

Is it not just a rebadged/painted Spesh roadbike?

Or is there more to it than that?

There's more info and better photos than I've seen here.

Looks like a big step up from the S-Works for not a colossal advantage, 110g out the frame/fork/seatpost for virtually double the money. The S-Works is gopping though, whilst that McLaren one looks awesome.

strip away all the faff? like dignity, pride, and manliness? you can't have any of these if you are a road riding, leg shaving, lycra queen...

lot of love x

What's horrendous!? It's a matt grey road bike with unusually subtle graphics for Spesh...

"What's horrendous!? It's a matt grey road bik..."

You've answered your own question there. Oh, and it's plastic.

😀

This'll be the pride, dignity and manliness associated with buying as much suspension* as you can and driving it to the nearest Forestry Commission play park yes? 😉

You could call it dull, but it's not really horrendous...

soz, just found this again, and from the link:

In a video, Specialized’s Head of Research and Development Chris D’Aluisio said this frame’s aerodynamics should translate to about a 3m advantage in a 200m sprint.

(over what, I wonder ?)

Over their existing top end road bike. BikeRadar quotes something like 45w advantage at 45kph, or something like that. Can't be bothered to go over there again.

suspiciously large ?
(I'd be surprised if a full-on tt frame offered that much, and waggling about under a sprinter, even less likely)

then again, I do happen to know sweet f.a. on the subject

45 watts is realistic if you understand concepts and projections behind it...

The S works frames are circa 3k...

Really are good value agains other aero frames on the market..

I particularly like starsh's comments. Wonderful. I'm sure any club rider (road) would hand you your own ass. Shaven legs or otherwise.

I think its plausible, bit less than 5%. BR did tests a few years ago on the benefits of TT bikes, aero helmets etc. They found a full aero package was worth about 60w advantage at 300w (or similar), so this seems likely.

The power improvements for this bike sound like complete bollocks, unless they're comparing it to a bike with a basket, a bell that rings and bit's that make it look good.

There has been some really stupid comments on this thread about this bike. I think it looks beautiful amazing peace of kit for pro riders & anyone else with money to burn.
