I could do with getting out on my bike more, I don't know the island too well, and I've even less idea of where to go wandering for a decent bike ride. Anyone on the island mind if a mtb noob tags along on a ride sometime?

Sorry don't live there, but been riding there a few times.

A good way to explore the island (and meet people) - http://www.bhf.org.uk/events-and-volunteering/events/event-finder/view-event.aspx?ps=1000755

Hi Lurchenstein, sounds like you're in the same boat I was in for the first couple of years since I moved here - didn't know anyone to go riding with. It was just me and my iPod most of the time.

Was recently pointed in the direction of some fellas who do a group ride by dave@extremists who posts on here. Think they're the remnants of an actual mountain bike club but it's all organised a bit more informally now.

I've been out with them a couple of times now and they're brand new.

They meet up and ride from the car park of the Hare & Hounds pub next to Robin Hill Country park at 6:15ish on Tuesday evenings, and at various locations at 1pm on a Saturday - your best bet might be to turn up at a Tuesday ride and say hello, then find out where the next Saturday one's starting from.

Whereabouts on the island are you?
