interested to know if anybody has ditched the gravity droppers/ pure racing / reverbs / x fusion / crank bros and the likes and gone back to a traditional seatpost and QR??

im seriously seriously on the edge of verging back towards one....ruined a few major longer rides due to technical issues and generally think they are a bit shoddy and extremely over priced

Not a chance, love mine but then its been faultless for the 6 months i've owned it.

Dont think i'd ever go back. Just buy the latest greatest one if(or should that be, when) mine becomes beyond repair

Mr Toast did - he had a KS i900r. It wasn't quite long enough (he's 6ft 7, so has his seat posts at maximum extension 99% of the time), and he said it was a bit rubbish because you had to wiggle about on the saddle to get it to budge.

I had one, gone back to a normal post as the dropper was a bit too rigid, and made my back hurt.

When I changed frame I found the minimum extended length of the is950 I had was just too big so sold it.

Can't say I've missed it - just run my post slightly lower all the time now and almost never move it.

i had an early gravity dropper and it was awefull, it was either sticking or dropping on its own, the tensioning nut was pain...fought with it for one ride at coedy brenin then went straight back to a qr

Still use mine, still love it, but am selective. Don't tend to use it in the gloop of winter where I'm riding more conservatively anyway. Riding a hardtail again some of the time in xc races I've learnt not to "need" it so much in all my riding. My next build will be bipolar with a trail side built with heavier wheels riser bars and dropper and a xc side with light wheels, flat bar and normal post.

Like Trailmoggy I had an early Gravity Dropper and had a couple of minor issues with it but it was the faff of getting it up and down with the synchronised seat bumping to get it back up so I changed back to a normal post.

Although I like the look of the Rockshox Reverb post as it looks a lot better and just goes up and down without the bolloxing about

I've got a couple of bikes but only one Gravity Dropper so I go back and forth regularly.

Sometimes I'll switch the seatpost over but mostly I just pull out the bike I need at the time which may or may not have the GD.

I've had the GD for nearly four years now and only had one "stuck down" moment and that probably could have been fixed in the field if I hadn't been so impatient.

Glad I've got it, for sure, but I'd like to see one which is (a) as reliable as a GD (b) a lot less ugly and (c) has larger drop range (4" is marginal for some of the riding I do)

I went back when i snapped my gravity dropper for the second time in it's 6 month life (2 of those back for repair as well). I'd like another when someone makes a reliable one.
