Thinking of a change from a large 2007 new shape Heckler which I find a bit short. I've a layback post & 100mm stem but I always feel I'm too far back behind the BB.
What size Epiphany do you ride, what height are you & do you rate it?
I'm 5'11", thinking of a large 19" Epiphany.

I have one, large and I'm 6'2". Fits really well. Cracking machine I think. Had a Superlight myself and they are a bit short on the top tube. The epiphany climbs really well. Mine doesn't have an RP23 on it just a standard fox float r but never needed the pro pedal function once. Feels about as light as the Superlight.

at 5ft 11 you are still in a medium frame. I loved my epi, fastest 5" boingy mile muncher I've ever had.

not flexy at all but then I'm not a fat biffer

got mine to under 25lbs with 2.25 tyres and 140mm fork on it.

But on a medium 17" I'd have a very long seat tube & the top tube would be the same as the Heckler.

if you look at the size guide meduims good for 6ft. I'm 5ft 10 and a smidge and a medium was spot on with a 90mm stem.

try one out is probably the best bet. I'm sure freeborn will let you play on one

Are you sure your first post is right? You think it is too short but also say that with a layback seatpost you are too far back from the BB...

One (to me suggests) you need a longer top tube and the other suggests you need to just get an inline post and see if that makes a difference to begin with.

The size guide also suggests over 5'9" for a large Epi.
Dick, yes I understand what you mean but then I feel too cramped.

I have a Pace RC104 in a large with a 610mm TT & in line post with 100mm stem & this feels great.

May or may not be a problem depending on whether you run a dropper post. I do and, much as a like the idea of an Epiphany, the 27.2mm seatpost diameter on them is off putting (Can't find the diameter for the SST.2 but the SST.1 still had 27.2). Previously had a Truth which I did enjoy riding...lovely frame.

But isn't the medium supposed to fit up to 6'1" people as well. The medium also has a 23.5" top tube which is well into large frame size dimensions. I have to say my first thought when I read you were 5'11 was that you should be riding a medium. My Superlight had Thomson inline post and 90mm stem and wasn't too bad, my epiphany has an inline post and 70mm stem and is spot on

My mate built a large one up last year that,I had a lend of it for the weekend - Great bike, rear suspension works sooooo good.I'm just over 6ft & I wouldn't have wanted one any smaller as they aren't big bikes...At 5'11" I would try before you buy......
