Hi folks, I'm planning a big old ride to explore exmoor and the quantocks in a oner and I'm looking for some ideas for the exmoor part. I'm anticipating a 10hr day in the saddle but would like to do a loop of exmoor and then a loop of the quantocks probably from a starting point in between so I can refuel.

I've got quite a few quantock's ideas but exmoor is obviously a lot bigger so any big routes that people have would be a really helpful start point. I'd like to do a point to point but the logistical faff would be a bit too much without support.

I've found Aidan's cross exmoor route as part of the ewe that could be a good starting point if I can link up with other trails to make it a loop. http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?lnk=http://www.aidanharding.com/gpx/ewe_complete.gpx

cheers

Matt

This in itself would probably do the job so would have to ditch the quantocks idea though

Not sure if the chap actually rode it though or whether he just plotted it

for a start.

the vertebrate guide book is a good reference tool for both quantocks and exmoor with ideas of how to link routes

i think to link the good bits of the two, you'll be spending a lot of time in the roads/lanes or muddy bridleways between them.
