Building a cheap bike up for a mate and planning to put some Rebas on a 456 frame. Most travel I can get from them is 115mm. Is this going to make the front end too low? Suppose a standard Inbred frame would be better.

I've got u-turn revs 100-130mm on my 456.. I usually ride it pretty much everywhere at 100mm.. usually because I forget to wind the travel out when I get to the top of something hairy.. there's some pretty tech descents on my local routes..

although sometimes I get to the bottom of a steep rocky section and think DOH! that would have been easier if I'd remembered..

works fine for me.. I find that at 130 it's a bit of a struggle keeping the front planted going up..

115 is about perfect on a 456 according to many folk..

Girlfriend has 100mm Rebas on her 456 and likes it. That said she has only just started out but it seems alright. My bro has a 456 with 100mm Fox 32s on and he likes it.

I think I saw some 120mm Rebas on Merlin for about £320

115 was pretty spot on on mine for most stuff - upped to 130 for steeper trails.

define standard. Mine was fine with a 445mm one which is pretty standard nowadays.

Standard 440mm O-O carbons shown here but if I was you I would go for the 29er carbon instead.

I am tempted to try the 445 carbon forks with a 29er front wheel 🙂

I've blabbed on about changing my 100mm Rebas to 120mm and never got round to it on the old 456 (probably 'cos I didn't need to) and now the new 456 has 100mm Recons on it and I was riding some pretty decent technical stuff last night on it - and it's fine. I suspect 120mm would be pretty decent too, but 4", 5", 6" - it's what it was designed for!

Ive had a 145mm fork on my steel 456, which felt perfectly fine, but I swapped to a 120mm reba on my Ti when it arrived, and I think its better all round at 120mm. More responsive, less divey, better climbing.

100mm RS Recons on mine. I'm not a fan of air suspension, so i got the coil ones. I've got a riser stem to bring the bars up a bit, but other than that it's spot on! I have run it with 140mm Pikes, but for day-to-day trail riding, 100mm is fine. Perfectly capapable, even on the trail center Black runs i've ridden it on.

Pike u-turns on mine. I reckon 120mm is nice for all round riding, so 115mm isn't far off.

I had my 456SS with a rigid CF 26" fork (On-One) and a 29er wheel. Great!

My Ti456 has 100mm SIDs on it as part of a racy build.

Much prefer it to when it had 120mm forks. Much faster steering and somehow feels less 'vague'.

Mines run everythgi from some old 100mm MX-Pro's, magura menja 130mm (probably best suited) to some 150mm Z1's which were ace if a little overkill as theback end cant keep up.
