Really don't want to buy another bike (storage room issues!) to take mini transapp to the pub once in a blue moon, so looking at a bike seat that'll fit. Anyone tried anything?

Just got a weeride. Fits my small Reign just about and Mrs Magnet's medium Caanan a treat. It all depends on top tube length. Once on, they are fab, you almost forget they are there!
Got one on my wife's Five Diva. My Alpine 160 has a LOCT.
Both work.
Sounds promising, I'm concerned that the front clamp on the bar (if you get my meaning) won't fit on the head tube above the top tube join as it's a pretty small piece protrouding (roughly 15mm). Any thoughts?

Looking at it either would fit.
The exposed head tube you need for a Weeride is about 5mm or so - but if you have a stupidly wide top-tube it may not fit well. The fitting is a U-beam which comes down the sides of the top-tube and it actually clamps at or below top-tube height.
The LOCT clamps on the steerer-tube and replaces 10mm (ish) of spacers.
LOCT is easier to ride with, more offroad capable and has a better clamping system in my view but is scarce and not cheap. Weeride is relatively cheap and available all over the place - and no worse clamping-wise than a Hamax seat-tube style seat.
If needs be you can modify the minimum top-tube length for a Weeride (which is already shorter than a LOCT) with a drill, hacksaw and 15 minutes of effort - needed to do that on my wife's 14" Five Diva.
That's great help thank you. My forks are cut too short for spacers (not my actual bike in the photo), so although I love the look of the LOCT, I think I'll be getting a Weeride.

Just to update in case of future searches.
The weeride does fit, but you'll need 2off M6x65mm bolts (£2, ebay) to replace the ones at the front as the o/s head tube is just too large.
You then realise quite how high hu you are when you ride a full sus bike in an xc position. Touch the ground with both feet? You must be joking!
I have a Reverb on my Alpine 160 (with LOCT) and my wife has a HiLo on her Five Diva (with Weeride) for exactly the reason you mention. Well it was a good excuse for the Reverb anyway.
