Is it a good ride? Any places to avoid/must see? Rough camping possible?

That's quite a length of road/coast.

Can you be more specific?

have cycled the west coast from tralee to gantry and back to the ferry in cork.
We got the train from cork to the start which was very easy.

More traffic especially coaches than I imagined, good fun and people expect cyclists so there is lots of provision.

Ring of Kerry is spectacular if you are cool with close coaches

Killarney national park is Ireland's first national park and I found it by accident.

Can't go wrong on the West or North coasts.

Well I was thinking of sticking as close to the coast as I can, but this is about 4000 miles or something rediculous. I was thinking of something to last 2-3 weeks, all on roads.
