[#10219707]

I've got a bike with an Ultegra 6800 groupset and the cassette, chain and chainrings need replacing

I was thinking I could go 1x at the same time and ditch the front mech

Has anyone done it?

Absolute Black chainrings look rather nice. I’m running a 38T on carbon sram  red. Works fine. What are you going to do for the LH shifter? Cable lock out?

As above, it would be like going singlespeed without all the benefits and all the drawbacks

It would work but the chainset would probably look minging with a non-matching ring on it.

With the left hand lever you just leave it as. Don't need to lock it or anything.

Yup - slightly minging (Absolute Black on a 105 chain set). Fine side-on to be honest - looking down and is a bit 'chunky' where the end of the arms just stop. I do prefer to be looking forwards, though... 😉

Can take a picture for you tomorrow if that helps.

Not done anything with the left hand shifter - seems fine as far as I'm concerned.

Out of interest, one of the riders from the now defunct aqua blue racing team was on the Wiggins’s podcast recently. He was less than complimentary regarding their 3T bikes and especially 1x drive trains for road.

For racing but not general use.
