Just been trying to establish how much i'd get charged for import duty on a frame purchased from the states? I can't seem to get a straight answer from Google, so not sure if its charged as a percentage of price, catagory or type of produce or any other means. Has anyone on here recently purchased a frame from a US supplier who can advise? Thanks.

The last time and I think its still about the same it is:
4.7% on bike parts or 15% on full bikes or most thereof Import tax on purchase price AND shipping
20% vat on Purchase price AND shipping AND Import tax.

VAT & Import Duty.

Add ~30% on the cost of the item and shipping together & you won't be far out

I bought forks from the states when 29er forks were few and far between.
I got em posted to a mate in the states, he pulled them out of box, threw some dirt at them, placed them in an old box and out of wrapping.
He posted them to me 'second hand'. 😉

Matt did you insure to full value, or take the gamble?

I've seen a 2012 frame for$479, so I should expect around £500, maybe a bit less then. So slightly cheaper than getting a UK sourced 2013/2014 frame, so not really worth it. Thanks chaps.
