anyone been to the Azores?
for biking or non-biking holiday...
which island did you go to? what did you make of it?
I went there 11 years ago and visited a few of the islands, which was quite easy to do using cheapish internal flights and ferries (visited Sao Miguel, Pico, Faial and Terceira).
There's not a huge amount to do on each island, but the atmosphere is very laid back and the scenery is stunning. It's not a bucket-and-spade destination, there's minimal nightlife, but we weren't after that. Lots of great walks by the sea. Didn't try riding there though. We loved it!
Used to stage through there when I was in the RAF. As above, it not really touristy, and weather wise not unlike the uk, wet and windy!
Hotels were pretty basic but fine.
don't fancy it myself, you end up festooned with sores.
