As title says, I often go to Sheringham and take my bike, riding is not great but at least I can get out, anyway was just reading about some trails at Bacton woods, just a bit further round the coast, can anybody tell where to go, ie park the car and find the trails.
Thanks
It's full of trails, but they're pretty well hidden in a lot of cases. The best thing to do is to go on a Sunday morning from about 10ish and ride around until you come across the locals. There were about 15 of us last weekend. Very friendly, and always happy for someone else to tag along.
Ok sounds go ta. Probably back that way in new year. Thanks. Is there any parking?
Yes, there's a car park at the woods. Most of the riders meet up at one of their houses first, but although there's loads of trails, they're in a fairly condensed area, so you're bound to bump into them. Alternatively, pop into Streetlife in Norwich and they can probably hook you up.
I'm in the 'other' group that rides in Bacton Woods, as well as various places Sheringham-Holt areas. Mail me if you want any info
Hearing about Bacton Woods on an MTB forum is bizarre for me. I gerw up in North Walsham, about 3 miles away and always used to play in Bacton Woods, wide games, den building etc.
Good to see it's being used for biking.
Is the hollow tree by the car park still there? We used to climb inside it.
Hello! Man it's hard to find anything about Bacton woods! ๐
Me and two friends have just started getting into mountain biking and loving it! We've been going to Bacton woods pretty much every week for the past month and keep on finding more and more trails... I don't know who's responsible for making the tracks but either way, brilliant! Keep up the good work... Has anyone ever tried to make any sort of map of the area where all the better formed trails are? We're taking the forestry footpath map with us next time to try and mark on anything we find, mainly because when we stumble across a fun trail, we struggle to find it again!
Anyway, if you see a lardy unfit bloke (me) and two much fitter people (Del & Tubby) say hello! ๐
So far, the best things we've found is the long weaving track through the ditch, and the tight track through the trees and over the two bridges! Oh and whoever made the up/down wooden framework/ramp walk in the trees, you're braver than me by a long way! Think it needs a few more supports! ๐
Cheers,
Ben
